June 4, 2004 Chateau Raceway Report by Matthew Grage

A perfect day turned into a perfect night for racing as a nice field of cars filled the pits for the sixth show of the season at Chateau Raceway in Lansing.  The racing was near perfect as well as just one caution flag flew during the opening half of the night featuring twelve heats and one consy.  The five features were highlighted by one caution free race and two that were slowed by just one.  Two of the nights cautions were for rollovers, the third and fourth of the season at Lansing.  In all it was some of the most exciting racing of the season with lots of side by side racing including two fantastic feature finishes with cars side by side at the checkers.

The Mod Lites put on a caution free Feature as Dave Lewison of Adams scored his fifth feature win of the year jumping from row two to the front on the first lap and sprinting away from the field.  Brian Kiehne of Harmony, the only other driver to get a feature win did a nice job coming out of row four to take second.  It looked like Brian may have been reeling in Dave but without any cautions to help him out never got within striking distance of him.  Kiehne did pick up a heat win along with Roni Van Riper of Glenville.  With the new electronic scoring all of the track records for speed for the different classes are being checked and the Mod Lite class saw the 17 second barrier broken by Lewison who ran a lap of 16.998 to take over the top spot for that class of cars.

June 5, 2004 Deer Creek Speedway Report by Bill Nelson

Another race against Mother Nature was battled by race crews and track crew during the regular Saturday night racing action.  During the track prep the skies let loose with a light rain and mist for most of the afternoon.  About 5:00 the misting finally quit and the final prep work was completed with the cars taking the first green flag just past the 6:00 start time.  The final checker waved about 10:15 as the Sorensen Restoration and Custom Woodworking of Wabasha sponsored night came to a conclusion.

The dwarf car feature found front row starter Brian Kiehne taking the early lead.  David Marso and Tate Bestor were locked in a good battle for second for the first two laps.  Bestor cleared Marso and pulled alongside of Kiehne in an awesome battle for first.  David Lewison starting ninth on the field moved into third on the third lap as Bestor suddenly slows and pulls off the track as a caution fly's.  Kiehne held the lead as Marso and Lewison battled for second.  Lewison cleared into the second spot as Jeff Jech worked into the picture.  Lewison was running low on the track as Kiehne ran the top of the track up front.  Jech and Marso were side by side with Jech taking the third spot as lapped traffic worked into play.  Kiehne held onto the top spot taking home his first checkers of the season.
