August 27, 2004 Chateau Raceway Classic Dwarf Report by
Matthew Grage
Track Championships were decided in five classes
Friday Night at Chateau Raceway. Championship Trophies will now be
awarded during the season finale next Friday Night to the top five in each
class, with other special awards planned as well. Wrapping up Track
Championships for 2004 were Shane Christianson
of Claremont in the Chateau Pure Stock Division, Brian Kiehne of Harmony in
Classic Dwarf, Bryan Hernandez of Blooming Prairie took home top honors in the
WISSOTA Midwest Modified Division for the second time in three years, Steve
Eischens of Taopi ended up on top in the WISSOTA Street Stock class, and in
Open Modified action Jimmy Davis of Medford took home his second straight Championship
and third in the last four years.
Brian Kiehne brought a twenty-five point advantage
over second place Tate Bestor
of Harmony into the night and he needed a good share of it. After running
in the top three at the start of the feature Kiehne developed problems and
pulled to the pits ending up with just an twelfth place finish. But
thanks to his cushion he still managed to get his first Track
Championship. Drew Jech of Austin scored his first
feature win of the season ahead of his dad Jeff Jech. Jeff who was the
two time defending Track Champion in the class ended up third in points behind
Bestor. Drew ended up fourth and Mike Gaines of Glenville finished fifth
in points. Gaines, like Kiehne, had some tough luck and fell out early as
well in the feature but managed to hold onto that fifth place points finish by
just four points over Roni Vanriper of Glenville. Riper ended up fourth
in the feature behind Bestor while Gaines early exit left him eleventh and
watching with interest. If Riper had gotten to the front he would have
been the one picking up the fifth place hardware next Friday Night. Jeff
Jech and Kiehne were the night’s heat winners.

August 28, 2004 Deer Creek Speedway Classic Dwarf Report by Bill Nelson
One
Hundred Thirty One cars pulled into the pit area on Essig Insurance night of Spring Valley. The overcast day
turned into a beautiful but cool evening as the racing action on the track
entertained the fans. With four track titles decided going into the last
night of regular season racing action, two were decided at the conclusion of
the feature action. Jeff Matjeka came home with the WISSOTA Late Model
championship in his first ever attempt of running for a track title.
Barry Underdahl came home second followed by Jerry Bloom in third. The
USRA modified event was decided before the classes took to the track with Mike
Sorensen coming home with the title. Brad Waits finished second and Bob
Timm third. The WISSOTA Super Stocks had the closest battle with Chris
Klinger leading Adam Stockhausen by 12 points going into the feature.
Klinger held off Stockhausen for his first ever title. Dave Haberman
finished the season with third place in the year long title race. The
WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds had Ron Houdek on the leader board through most of
the year taking home the title. Tim Siercks finished second and Greg
Pfeifer Jr. third. Travis Krause repeated as track champion with Steve Eischens
and Chuck Nerland taking home the second and third spots in the WISSOTA Street
Stock division. Brian Kiehne took home the title in the Classic Dwarf Car
division followed by Tate Bestor and Drew Jech.
The
Classic Dwarf Cars found David Marso with the early lead. Corey Whalen
battled hard with him up front for the first few circuits with Whalen taking
the lead once but Marso had the middle of the track working. With
thirteen to go Brian Kiehne worked into third as he worked around Drew
Jech. Rick Utley and Tate Bestor worked the top side of
the track trying to move forward. With seven to go Kiehne took the lead
to take home the win. Marso finished second and Utley third.
